Sounzan Sta.

The area around Hakone Tozan Cable Car and Sounzan Station, a transit point, is an ideal location that affords an unbroken view of the streetscapes of Gora and the outer rim of the Mount Hakone crater, and on a clear day, visitors can even survey Sagami Bay. The Chinese character for large (大) that can be seen on Myojogatake, a peak on the ridge of the outer rim of Mount Hakone, is famous because of the well-attended and bustling Daimonji yaki bonfire event that burns it into the mountain every August 16th.

A new station building will be in service in April 2020. Be aware that improvement work has reduced the number of parking spaces at Sounzan Station to just 36.

Owakudani Sta.

At Owakudani, white smoke rises from the desolate earth and the smell of sulfur hangs over the area. Because of that intense scenery, it used to be called "Jigokudani" (hell valley), and it is Hakone's leading tourist destination, drawing many visitors throughout the year. Owakudani Station is in the highest-elevation spot on the Hakone Ropeway. Because it has different boarding areas for the Sounzan Station and Togendai Station directions, it is also a transfer station.

Ubako Sta.

Ubako Station is known for Ubako Onsen, one of the 17 hot spring baths of Hakone. The station has a hiking course where you can enjoy historical spots and a rich natural environment, and it affords a beautiful view of Mount Fuji. (Owakudani area hiking courses and nature study routes are currently closed.)Note that while many ropeways connect the foot of a mountain and the summit in a straight line, for Hakone Ropeway's ropeway, we built Ubako Station midway between Owakudani Station and Togendai Station, making the route bent.
